Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Punt Edge collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the website at getthepuntedge.com and the paid tool behind login.

The Punt Edge is operated by Chris Beechey, based in Melbourne, Australia. For any privacy question, email support@getthepuntedge.com.

This is a v1 policy written in plain English. It reflects how the service works today. It will be updated as the service evolves.

1. What personal information we collect

We collect three broad categories:

Account information. When you create an account through Clerk we collect your email address, and the name you provide if you provide one. We keep a record of your account creation date, subscription status and preferences (like favourite bookmakers and notification settings).

Payment information. When you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment. Stripe collects and stores your card details. We only see high-level billing information from Stripe: your customer ID, subscription ID, subscription status and current period end date. We do not see or store your full card number, expiry or CVV.

Usage information. Bets that you log in the bet tracker are stored against your account. This includes the market, selection, odds, stake, bookmaker, and any notes you add, plus the outcome once you mark it settled. We also store your interaction preferences (bookmaker filters, notification toggles) and referral codes if you use them.

Technical information. We collect standard technical data when you use the site, including IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, and session cookies. Google Analytics 4 assigns you a client ID (via the _ga cookie) and records events like page views, sign-up and purchase. Sentry may capture error details, including your user ID, when the app hits an error.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (health, race, religion, political opinion). Please do not include sensitive information in bet notes or support emails.

2. How we collect it

Most of what we collect comes directly from you when you create an account, subscribe, log bets or update settings.

Some information comes from third parties: Clerk when you sign in, Stripe when your payment status changes, Google Analytics when you browse the site, and Sentry when the app hits an error.

Some information is collected automatically through cookies and analytics as you use the site.

3. How we use it

We use your personal information to:

We do not use your personal information for advertising or to build profiles for third parties.

4. Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party processors to run the service. Each of them handles data only for the specific purpose described.

Each processor operates their own infrastructure and may store data in Australia, the United States, or other regions where they operate.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with bookmakers.

We may disclose personal information if we are required to by law, a court order, a valid subpoena, or a regulator with proper authority. Where we can lawfully tell you first, we will.

If we ever sell or transfer part of the business, personal information may transfer to the new owner as part of that transaction. If that happens, we will let subscribers know.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use the following cookies:

You can clear cookies in your browser at any time. Clearing them will log you out and reset your preferences. Blocking analytics cookies will not stop you using the service.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet tax, accounting and legal obligations. In Australia this typically means keeping billing and account records for at least seven years.

When you ask us to delete your data (see Section 8) we will delete or de-identify what we can, and retain only what we need to for legal reasons. We will tell you what we cannot delete and why.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information:

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever have a data breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by Australian law, including under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme where it applies.

8. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email support@getthepuntedge.com from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days.

If you think we have not handled your personal information properly and we cannot resolve it with you directly, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

9. Children

The service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify subscribers by email or an in-app notice.
